OFFICIAL: Tello joins Fiorentina on a long-term loan
Barcelona loan Cristian Tello to Fiorentina after Spanish winger completes medical in “I love beer” t-shirt
Spanish champions Barcelona have confirmed that they have an agreement with Italian side Fiorentina to send Cristian Tello on loan for the season.
Tello, who came through the youth system at Barcelona, has continued his struggle to force his way into the first-team at the Nou Camp and is now headed out on another loan spell.
The formerly alleged Liverpool target spent the previous two seasons on loan with Portuguese giants Porto but has returned to Spain following the end of that agreement and is being sent back out on a temporary basis to Italy, where he spent the back end of last term.
Barcelona confirmed via their official website that Fiorentina will take Tello on loan this season after playing him four times in Serie A over a short spell last term.
The Florence club have also agreed an option in the deal to sign Tello permanently next summer should they feel he’s worth a long-term contract.
The 25-year-old surprised many by his attire at his medical earlier today as he turned up wearing an ‘I love beer’ T-shirt upon signing for his new club.
Fiorentina will hope he stays away from the drink this season as they bid to fight for a place high up the Serie A table and potentially steal a Champions League spot from one of the division’s big-name clubs.
